Busy in July

Decathlon

I flew the '42 to be filmed from the '40, and we filmed them too
This will be broadcast by FTV in Hong Kong next month

There's not enough of me

There are too few people available to fly all sorts of aeroplanes these days and so there's plenty of call for my time.
Managing this is something I need to perfect... This is why I get few days off at this time of the year and have to work long days at the same time... So please don't decry me for my trips to the Far East and England... Even on these there can be more work than I want!

I'm doing something about this, though once again it will be temporary. I have another student/instructor to do the aerobatic instructor rating.
Andy did it with me before but he has moved on leaving a gap to be filled by??? I suppose it would have to be me! At least until I can finish the training of Andy's replacement.

The aeroplanes at Langley need flying too... So I managed to give the Decathlon a run to Chilliwack last Saturday.
Gary brought along an expert in tasting foods... It's apparent that Chilliwack's pies are not as good as when Barbara made them before her retirement.
I noticed the difference in the rhubarb crunch... Our expert thought the pie crust to be like Pilsbury dough... So it's official, in an expert's opinion it's not as good as it used to be...
Controversial for sure... but then again I had the coconut cream pie at Qualicum Beach a few weeks ago and it was superb...

There are two new members in the Cardinal RG group here so I am enlisted to check them out.
The first one, Al, has a lot of experience and so a couple of flights sufficed on Sunday.
The next one will be a new PPL in a couple of weeks time and I expect this one to take some effort.

Then there's one of our former students who is checking out in the Citabria, so far so good and not too many bad swings on the runway.

The school is still only moderately busy in spite of the good weather, but this is the same for all schools...
I am called upon for the serious stuff while I do what I can to ensure the instructors get as much flying in as possible.
Serious stuff would be spinning with Richard last week in the C1 Eclipse over the Pitt Lake fields, putting up with a few scary circuits in the DA40, and flying formation in the DA42 with the DA40 to get some filming done.
The filming was fun, I've done a fair amount of this in the past and so I gave the cameraman some good angles.

Warning... I received a landing fee invoice for our SportStar from Qualicum Beach at a minimum invoice charge of $11 plus tax!
The aeroplane wasn't even there on the day they wrote on the invoice... It seems that Qualicum Beach is trying the same nonsense as Nanaimo... They are billing: "JAN. - JUNE, 2010 LANDING FEES, C-ISLA - 550 kg."
